At Universal Athletic Club, we have over 200 Group Fitness classes a week for all ages, interests, goals and ability levels. With a variety of classes offered 7 days a week, you're guaranteed to find a class that will keep you energized and motivated.

"Programs of the month" for February:  BODYATTACK

BODYATTACK is a high-enerergy cardio workout that builds strength and stamina through fun interval training routines.

How fit do I need to be?

BODYATTACK suits anyone who is moderately fit.  The moves are simple to follow so you do not need to be especially coordinated. 

What should I wear and bring? 

Definitely a good, supportive pair of sneakers to ensure foot stability!  It gets very warm in BODYATTACK, so shorts and a tank seem to keep most people more comfortable. And don't forget a water bottle to hydrate in between tracks!

How often should I take a class?

We recommend 1-2 times a week, with 3 being the maximum.  We suggest resting a day in between classes.

Group Fitness Class Descriptions:
CARDIO

BODYVIVE (60 minutes)
LOW IMPACT, HIGH ENERGY!! Defy your expectations with a low impact group fitness program that let’s you work at your own pace and leaves you fizzing with energy. This class has it all...cardio, resistance training, balance and flexibility exercises choreographed to popular music from the 60s and 70s.

Jazzercise (60 minutes) 
This powerfully fun and effective workout will lift your spirit and strengthen your heart, muscles and core.  A healthy dose of cardio, strength and stretch moves will leave you feeling energized!  Jazzercise is perfect for every age and fitness level.

BODYJAM (60 minutes)
This awesome workout is set to the latest music and greatest dance moves. It’s cardio fun at it’s best for those with a passion for  movement. You will burn calories, increase your fitness level, and most of all have FUN!

BODYCOMBAT (60 minutes)
Explosively popular in clubs around the world, this class combines kicks, jabs and strikes from a range of self-defense disciplines like karate, boxing and Tae Kwon Do into an hour long energetic routine. Try the ultimate martial arts workout...BODYCOMBAT™!

BODYSTEP(60 minutes)
BODYSTEP™ uses a step which can be adjusted to any height to meet the needs of the participant. This class features cardiovascular intervals followed by muscle conditioning tracks designed to shape the entire lower body. Motivating music to keep you Steppin’.

BODYATTACK (60 minutes)
The sports-inspired cardio workout for building strength and stamina. This high-energy interval training class combines athletic aerobic movements with strength and stabilization exercises. Everyone will be motivated, from the weekend athlete to the hard-core competitor!

SH'BAM™ (45 minutes)
Featuring simple but seriously hot dance moves, SH’BAM™ is the perfect way to shape up and let out your inner star – even if you’re dance challenged.  Set to a soundtrack of chart-topping popular hits, SH’BAM™ is the ultimate fun and sociable way to exercise. Each class is vibrant, unique and varied.

ZUMBA (45-60 minutes)
A latin-inspired, dance-fitness class that incorporates Latin and international music and dance movements, creating a dynamic, exhilarating, and effective fitness system.  This class combines fast and slow rhythms that tone and sculpt the body using an aerobics/fitness approach. This class known as a ZUMBA® Fitness Party is for participants of all ages and fitness levels.

BODYPUMP (60 minutes)
Is a revolutionary weight training workout in a group fitness setting, that uses barbells with adjustable weights.  Set to motivating music, BODYPUMP™ is a simple, athletic based workout that strengthens, tones and defines every major muscle in the body.  Ideal for the beginner through the experienced exerciser.


CYCLING

EASY RIDER 101 (30 minutes)
This class is perfect for those new to exercise or indoor cycling.  You will learn how to set up an indoor bike, then cycle 15-20 minutes to music used in RPM™ class.  We will keep the intensity level low so that you can pedal at your own pace.  No previous experience needed.

RPM (50 minutes)
RPM™  is an indoor cycling program for developing cardiovascular capacity.  Burning up to 500 calories in a single class.  RPM™ is about high energy, having fun, and reducing body fat.  RPM™ provides fast improvement in general endurance and an increase in lower body strength. Try this ‘rock concert on wheels’...you will love it!

RPM (60 minutes)
Same as 50 minute class with two additional tracks, one a hill climb and the other focusing on speed work.

Free Ride (50 minutes)
This ‘freestyle’ cycling class is the instructor’s choice of music and motivation.  This class has climbs and free spins to make the ride a super calorie burner and an extreme cardio workout.

HIGH PERFORMANCE CYCLE (75 minutes)
This extended cycling class is for those who want to go the extra distance! We will add more climbs and more free spins to make this ride a super calorie burner and an extreme cardio workout. We recommend that you have some indoor cycling experience before attending this class.

We recommend that you bring a towel and water bottle to class.



MIND & BODY

BODYFLOW (60 minutes)
BODYFLOW™  is the revolution in mind-body training that is changing the way people feel about their bodies. This class is a dynamic exercise-to-music program that leaves members feeling relaxed and renewed.

BODYFLOW™combines the best of eastern disciplines, like yoga and tai chi, with popular new methods like Pilates.  Come FLOW with us!

Mat Pilates (60 minutes)
This original ‘core workout’ will change your whole body and help you gain flexibility & strength.  A certified instructor will guide you through floor and standing exercise.  Modifications can be made for all fitness levels.

Yoga (60 minutes) 
Inhale strength, exhale stress. Yoga postures are linked
together with breath in an athletic flow, increasing muscle
strength and flexibility, building endurance, improving balance,
and gaining mental focus. Multi-level options make it suitable for
all fitness levels.

Sunday Yoga Series (90 minutes)
Join us the 3rd Sunday of every month for a 90-minute yoga class.  Each month will focus on a different type of Yoga practice.  Experience the calm, the breathing benefits and the overall ‘good’ feeling found in this Yoga series.
