Lancaster County School Districts sign with Parisi Speed School

Lancaster, Pa. - Manheim Township High School and Cocalico High School athletic departments are utilizing Parisi Speed School trainers to improve the football and field hockey teams.

Parisi trainers from Universal Athletic Club are working with the athletes at their schools to improve their speed, flexibility and endurance.

"Athletes at Manheim Township and Cocalico are learning how to get the competitive edge through this new approach to training," said Troy Steffy, director of Parisi Speed School. "We are building better athletes which could result in championship caliber teams."

Cocalico High School Football Coach Dave Gingrich said about 75 athletes have participated in Parisi training since January. The athletes are members of the school football, baseball, basketball, lacrosse and field hockey teams.

"Overall, the Parisi training has made them better athletes in terms of quickness, awareness and confidence," Gingrich said. "It's a great workout for a fair price."

Parisi Speed School is a nationally licensed program designed to build confidence to help improve speed, strength, flexibility and endurance for athletic performance.

Bill Parisi, a former collegiate All-American track & field athlete, started the speed school in 1992. There are 30 franchises in 20 states where more than 100,000 athletes have trained.

Universal Athletic Club is home to the only Parisi Speed School in Lancaster County. The club is home to an 8,000-square-foot training center with a six-lane sprint track, grass turf section, specialized strength-training equipment and conference area for students, parents and coaches.

After an individual evaluation, each student is placed in a group based on their age and ability level. Each Parisi class is one-hour long.

Students are recommended to take 2-3 classes a week. Trainers take the athletes through a challenging workout of speed drills on track, flexibility and balance exercises, nutritional advice and self-discipline.
